Growing up in the 21st Century, I have seen personalities I respect, share their opinions, passions, and sentiments through TED and TEDx talks. TEDx makes it possible for anyone to ‘spread an idea worth sharing. Individuals all around the world thirst for their voices to be heard and for their opinions to matter. Hopefully through our TEDx, I can provide an oasis for that neglected thirst, and inspire others to provide their own. By proving that students can really help our communities, and are just as excited about our future, as adults are, I always try to take that extra step toward our future, and hope as I become an adult I can continue to do more.

An implacable thirst for knowledge is a quality that I maintained since childhood. A thirst that was quenched with the advent of TED's youtube videos, particularly in the field of medicine and biotechnology. What once was a passion then turned to an aspiration and medicine became the path I chose to follow. Beyond the world of the white-coated, my interests lie in music, art, athletics and traveling. As executive producer, I hope to offer the same diversity of knowledge TED gifted to me back to the community shaped my life as it has shaped many others.

Hi, I’m Ramya Iyer/classical music lover/passionate debater/lover of pugs/co-organiser of TEDxYouth@AlBarsha. TED appeals to me as the single platform where curious thinkers and dreamers can gather to discuss a thought or a light bulb moment that could potentially be revolutionary. This in itself truly encapsulates the power of TED can have over anyone but in particular the power it holds over transforming the youth. “There is an idea of Ramya Iyer, some kind of abstraction. I have had the privilege of speaking at a TEDx event and it was one of the most invigorating exposures of my life. From the time we started preparation, to the time I was presenting on stage were the best moments I have ever had. It only feels right to give other students a chance to have an experience as memorable as mine, and helping organize one is the perfect opportunity. I am thankful to both the TED and TEDx platforms for not only being a platform for innovation, but also education and inspiration. Watching TED videos by people like Ray Kurzweil and Nick Bostrom went from a past time activity to an aspiration for me, and now I wish to pursue Artificial Intelligence at university.
Gaining knowledge for its own sake is a childhood passion of mine, and a major reason as to why I am so enchanted by the idea of TEDx - a great incubator for ideas that can solve the world’s problems. My aspiration is to metamorphose the vital field of alternative energy systems, to revolutionize the manner in which energy is produced, and to empower a green revolution.

The stage design team’s mutual interests stem from our experiences with event planning and coordinating, in conjunction with a general understanding and appreciation of art. We easily found a common ground to explore our passions whilst also enhancing our experience scale, creating the ultimate stage design team. That being said, we are more than grateful to be part of the TEDxYouth@AlBarsha Organizing Team. This has given us the opportunity to work with likeminded proactive individuals in order to spread ideas that shape our world. We were in awe as we watched TEDX speakers from around the world masterfully grace the art of public speaking. We would like to be able to literally provide a platform for the youth of our nation to voice their remarkable ideas to the local and global community that surrounds them.

I myself am a freethinker with a captivating attitude towards learning. Listening to TED talks makes your thought process running which personally, gives me major goosebumps. I am happy to be given the opportunity to work for the astonishing TED group. TEDx is truly an ingenious way for anybody to enunciate ideas to furthur evolve and shape the minds of the third estate; especially of the youth who are on our way to being fledged denizens.

The world is a perpetually evolving place, bursting at the brim with revelations. Discoveries every day, innovations that change our worldview, constantly revolutionizing our lives. Every discovery initially is just a thought or a theory based on basic or no reasoning. TEDx is a space for innovators and thinkers or anyone with an idea as such to project it onto the world, and watch it become a reality. I can only hope to create an online presence that encourages more and more people to come forward and attempt to change the world.

TEDx is about working with different people to share ideas worth spreading. Being a part of the TEDx Youth@AlBarsha team is a satisfying experience with everyone working towards a common goal and being involved in a task they are passionate about. The theme 'Metamorphosis' is something that inspires me, the transformation of different components such as science, business and the arts that are always evolving to adapt to the ever-changing, modern society. As the sponsorship director, I have had the pleasure to work closely with our core team and the event sponsors to make sure this event is a success!
